Stay in Traditional Jhumpa Huts

village homestay in Rajasthan The Jhumpa huts at HACRA Dhani are built in the traditional style of the desert — round, sand stone, thatched roofs with straw, local wood, cow dung and mud earth built using centuries-old techniques that keep them naturally cool in summer and warm in winter. These simple yet comfortable huts are perfect for travelers seeking to explore Rajasthan’s rich rural culture and desert lifestyle.

The huts and beds are simple yet comfortable, and a bathroom block is available for guests. Unlike luxury resorts, HACRA Dhani offers a genuine desert rural experience where life follows the rhythm of the desert. There is no 24-hour running water or uninterrupted electricity, just as in most desert villages of Rajasthan. Water is pumped from deep underground, and each year the borewell pump must go deeper because of scarce monsoons rain and water poverty in the desert region.

By staying here, you experience life as locals do — simple, sustainable, and in harmony with the challenges of the Thar Desert.

Your stay in the traditional ‘Jhumpa’ huts at HACRA Dhani allows you to experience how these sustainable desert homes are built and lived in. Meals are prepared using unique local specialties — beans and pods collected from desert trees, along with homemade dishes made from millet, fresh milk, and yogurt, all sourced from the family farm, surrounding village. Every meal is a taste of authentic rural Rajasthan, cooked with love and rooted in local traditions.
